The first time I touched a fly rod or tied my first fly was in 1995 at the age of 7 years old in McBain Michigan and I immediately became hooked. I grew up in a life of rodeo but home base was in central Oklahoma. I did that professionally myself as an adult until my body asked me to do something else. I spent my professional rodeo days (2011 - 2021) living in a tent on a the river closest to my next rodeo. I always wanted to guide but couldn’t decide where. In 2016 I worked the Albuquerque state fair and rodeo and fished this amazing stretch of water for the first time. I stopped here and fished the quality section every time I passed by and knew this was where I would eventually set up shop. I have been an independent guide in Oklahoma since 2019 and have been selling flies since 2018.
I know fly fishing can be intimidating but it’s by far the most exhilarating and rewarding method of fishing I’ve experienced. I want to teach you everything I know not only about this river but give you the knowledge to go anywhere and catch anything.
If you're here I'm sure you've heard a little about this place but for those reading this that haven't..... This stream has 4 miles of "quality water" that is loaded with rainbow and brown trout. There are up to 80,000 fish in this stretch with an average size of a whopping 17"! I have fly fished all over the mountain states, east and wes
If you're here I'm sure you've heard a little about this place but for those reading this that haven't..... This stream has 4 miles of "quality water" that is loaded with rainbow and brown trout. There are up to 80,000 fish in this stretch with an average size of a whopping 17"! I have fly fished all over the mountain states, east and west, and this is by far my favorite fishery. You can literally sight fish 25" fish and it's beyond satisfying! The bug life in this river is on the smaller side so don't be alarmed or intimidated by the fly sizes we throw! I don't know any other stream that I can pick the method of fishing I want to do that day and go be successful with it. This river is very special and can be humbling without the proper approach. Let's learn something new today!
